Jaws 5 – Coming Soon?

Jaws 5 is the fifth installment in the immensely popular JAWS franchise, but is it coming to a theater near you? There have been rumors floating around for years about Jaws 5 and when and if it will be made. Would you go see a fifth installment of Jaws? Is the audience there to make it worthwhile, and quite simply, will it be made? In this article will look at the reasons why it’s a safe bet Jaws 5 will be made, and probably pretty soon! The original Jaws was one of the most successful movies of all time and is considered one of the quintessential horror movies out there. Jaws was directly responsible for huge numbers of people staying out of the water and the generally poor reputation of the great white shark. While the sequels that follow weren’t exactly the same quality as the original, they were somewhat successful none the less. So we already know that people have shown a willingness to go see Jaws sequels.

Add that to the fact that remakes and re-launches are all the rage in Hollywood right now. After all, why take a chance on a new series or a new idea when you could just re-release or re-invent a classic series that is guaranteed to draw movie goers no matter what? Even when the Jaws soundtrack was the creepiest thing about the film. Batman was re-launched, Superman was re-launched, remakes of horror movies and action movies alike are all the rage. The Star Wars “prequels” were massively successful, and the list goes on and on.

What it comes down to is, the current trend in Hollywood is to remake or re-launch successful franchises and Jaws is one of the most successful and recognizable names of all time when it comes to movies. So will Jaws 5 be made? You can bet on it. Will it be good? That’s a different story. Maybe, maybe not.
