John Hughes, Forever Legend!
John Hughes died suddenly this week due to a heart attack while taking an early morning walk in Manhattan in town visiting family, John was 59 years old.
A legend of the 80′s “teen angst” movies that we all love so dearly and watch over and over with out hesitation has been dealt a sorrowing blow, Writer, Director John Hughes has died.
Hughes was the king of the 80′s comedy box office with hits like “Ferris Bueller’s Day off“, “Breakfast Club“, “Uncle Buck“, “Home Alone“, the list goes on and on, but my favorite has to be “Weird Science” as I can watch that movie endlessly and recite each line before the actor does with excitement each and every time.
John left the Hollywood scene in the early 90′s for a much quieter life in suburban Chicago. He left the biz before it left him, movies were getting more raunchy and the demanding studio heads clashed with his lighthearted proven style. John continued to work, but at a distance and besides he proved you can make a great film focusing on the the teens and their high school problems with a comic touch that you felt and believed which no one has ever been able to duplicate.
John Hughes is a major reason I came to Hollywood and I am not alone, Judd Apatow and Kevin Smith both credit John as influencing them with their careers.
So we must bid adieu with a heavy heart to a legendary filmmaker, John Hughes…
