HBO’s “Hung” – Review
HBO has a new series for the summer, “Hung” which stars Thomas Jane and Jane Adams. HBO’s “Hung” starts out slow as to introduce the characters and get a feel for the theme of the show, but it kept me watching.
Ray Drecker (Thomas Jane) is a lousy high school basketball coach and English teacher in the struggling suburb of Detroit. Life is not going well for Ray, his wife left him, his teen twins are giving him a headache and his house burned down! He now lives in a tent in what was once his back yard. He then meets Tanya (Jane Adams) who is a self professed poet and a bit on the homely side but still kind of hot for a one night stand only later to bump into each other at a miserable “making money” workshop.
The “well endowed” Ray has no idea how to make money other than his low earning teaching job, but that’s where Tanya steps in after another one night stand and getting all emotional, yells at Ray saying he should “sell his big d*ck”. Then with a cock of an eyebrow, Ray has an idea (hence the name of the show, “Hung“). However Ray is not good at marketing himself as shown after an embarrassing failed attempt, so that’s where the homely but cute Tanya will come in…
Overall a very good start to a new show, the chemistry between “Ray” and “Tanya” is right on from the start. Humor is around every corner and the show is unpredictable on what will come next, something prime-time networks are lacking. “Hung” is a show I will definitely watch every week as it is very well acted, will show plenty of skin, and really is funny! Yes, I like skin… so! LOL
